Pre-School Support Service
The pre-school support service aims to promote the optimum development of pre-school children with special educational needs by providing home teaching and advisory support to children, families, nursery/playgroup and schools, and liaise with other professionals involved with these children.

Based in Foyle View, the pre-school team consists of one teacher and one learning support assistant.  Home visits can be on a weekly or fortnightly basis according to the amount of other support that specific families are receiving.  As well as home visits, the team provides educational advice for children who are in the process of receiving a statement of special educational needs.  The number of children who received pre-school visits in the Derry area for 05/06 was 40. The number of children seen for educational advice only was four.
