INSPECTION SURVEY IN INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY

The Education and Training Inspectorate carried out a survey in ICT of Foyle

View School, Londonderry in March 2007.  The strengths and area for

development were identified as follows.

Strengths of the work include:

  • the strong commitment of the Principal and senior management team to the development  and embedding of ICT across all aspects of the work of the school;
  • the sound and effective strategic planning for the continued development of ICT, with clear and appropriate targets and milestones identified;
  • the strong commitment to ICT by all staff to maximise and enhance the pupils’ learning experiences and achievements;
  • the good quality of the teaching using ICT;
  • the appropriate use of ICT to facilitate effective communication and decision-making with pupils who have profound and multiple learning difficulties
  • the broadening of the pupils’ learning experiences through well developed external links and partnerships;
  • the effective use of ICT, across the school, to share resources and record and celebrate the achievements of the children; and
  • the appropriate focus on the continuing professional development of all staff.
Area for development:
·        the implementation of the actions identified in the school’s strategic development plan for ICT, including the development of an appropriate framework to support the self-evaluation of ICT throughout the school.
