Pastoral Care
Our school's pastoral provision is of paramount importance to the Board, staff and parents.  Below are listed some of the continuous ways in which that system is supported throughout the school

The pastoral care, child protections and promoting positive behaviour policies were reviewed with all staff on return to school in September 2006

During 06/07 the Principal continued to sit on the Foyle Child Protection Panel

Looked After Care Reviews continued to be hosted at Foyle View

Pastoral and Child Protection procedures were explained to all new parents and students on placements.

The Principal asked P McGeown to represent him at an inter-departmental committee on developing the nursing response to children with complex needs.

Significant numbers of the Board of Governors completed the child protection training in general, and in relation to recruitment and selection.

Updated training was undertaken by the designated and deputy designated teachers for child protection.

Representations continued to be made to Foyle Trust regarding the challenges in making provision for children with complex needs.

The development and review of critical incident practices within the school was set as a priority for 06/07.

Core policies on child protection, pastoral care and positive behaviour management were revisited with staff in late August.

Northern Ireland Children’s commission (NICCY) held a Rights Workshop for secondary pupils

In March 07, new guidelines procedures were implemented regarding the vetting of all staff.

Multi-disciplinary child development clinics were held during 06/07.

A child protection audit was completed within Foyle View.

Joint working with representatives from Foyle Trust continued on developing health care plans for individuals with complex needs.
