Chairperson's Remarks

As Chairperson of the Board of Governors, it is my pleasure to present to you the annual report for the previous school year 2006-2007.  Once again it was another successful year for Foyle View .  the school achieved the UNICEF Rights Respecting School Award in recognition of the promotion of the rights of children within the curriculum and ethos.  I would like to extend our sincere thanks to Eilis Gill and Clionagh Boyle from Derry Children's Commission who have contributed so much to the work of the school over the past number of years.  A very successful inspection of ICT paid tribute to the school's continued good work in this area.  Alongside this, the school's strategic plan had guided curriculum development during the last year, and driven continually improving practices in a wide range of areas.  Staff, pupils and parents should feel justifiably proud of having surpassed their agreed aims and objectives.

The many concerts, events and residential trips are documented extensively in this report and show, along with the other sections, that the school is committed to providing a wide curriculum to meet a diversity of needs.  there were many other events and achievements that I hope you will see detailed in the rest of this report.

Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome al our new pupils and families who started with us in September and to say a thank you and goodbye to those pupils and their families who left Foyle View in 2006 - 07.  I would like to take the opportunity to thank you, the parents, for the enormous contribution y9ou continue to make to our school.  Also I would like to thank my fellow Governors and all the staff for your dedicated support, continued commitment and the great contribution you have made over the past year.  In particular, I would like to thank Roisin O Hara, who stood down from the Board last year, for her contribution to Foyle View.  to out pupils who make Foyle View the school that it is we say well done and congratulations on another very successful year.
