The school was successful in achieving the Investor in People Award in 2005-206.  Investor in People provides a detailed framework for promoting school effectiveness to meet the requirement of the Investors in People award.  The school management team was supported by the regional training unit in structuring school planning to meet the requirements of Investors  in People.  A significant number of workshops were held with all stakeholders.  These included sessions at a whole school, department, auxiliary, ancillary and allied services level.  Significant changes were made to school practices and the Governors were delighted to see the school achieving the award in June after a rigorous assessment

During the summer months, some pupils from Foyle View attended an animation workshop in the Nerve Centre.  It was so successful that a short animation film was made entitled 'Ermintrude The Electrical Elephant'  There was a showing of the animation at the Nerve Centre in November, where the pupils involved received certificates.  It was shown just before the Christmas play, and was very well received by all.

A number of children from Foyle View School were successful in the Housing Executive's Competition in which they had to produce pictures, poetry or stories for the Executive's Newsletter.  The successful candidates won prizes for the school including a trophy, plants and gardening tools.  The presentation of prizes was held in April 2007 at the Housing Executive Offices.

A senior pupil from Foyle View School was a winner in the Young People's Award for Overcoming Adversity in March 2007.  He received a certificate and monetary prize in a prize giving ceremony held by the Credit Union, who conducted the competition.

A Foyle View School Senior pupil was chosen out of more than 400 children to have her work used on the Mayor's Christmas card, which will be distributed all around the world.

The winning card design of an angel interpreted the theme 'Christmas Spirit of Peace and Reconciliation' and according to the Mayor, the standard of entries was exceptional.

"Christina's winning design of an angel was a simple but very captive image which the judges believed stood out from the rest.  It has a universal theme and is a very positive image and one, says the Mayor, that I am very happy to have on my Christmas Card."

Christina visited the Guildhall to be presented with a framed sample of her winning card,  which will be displayed in the school.  A number of other entrants from the school also received certificates for their entries.

Once again, the pupils have been very successful in the annual Credit Union art competition.    The pupils collectively won 2 first prizes, one second prize and a class first prize.

Foyle View School pupils, parents and teachers who received Advance certificates on completion of an internet Multi-Media course at the University of Ulster Magee Campus.
